High-precision spinnerets for custom-made hollow fibres
SITEC develops and manufactures high precision spinnerets for the production of made-to-order hollow fibres using exceptionally accurate micro-machining technology. The spinnerets enable significant improvements in the performance of membrane systems in medical technology, the ultrafiltration of fluids and gas separation.
When high-precision parts are being produced with small and very small structures on machine tools, the demands on the products to be manufactured can quickly exceed the accuracy limits of the machine. Here, producible tolerances are often limited to 3–5µm for series production. The tolerances that can be achieved on workpieces are usually somewhat greater with contour-defining tools, and particularly with sub-millimetre drilling.
The production method for hollow fibre spinnerets developed by SITEC allows for reliable processes with an accuracy of ≤1µm, making it particularly suitable for the production of spinneret geometries that impact on quality. The ability to create very small, high-precision holes, for feeding supporting fluids for example, substantially improves the controllability and therefore the process stability of fibre production.
